Superintendent’s Message
Frank Miranda, Ed.D.
Thank you for taking the time to visit this website and learn more about this unique and exciting opportunity to build a new campus for Zimmerman Elementary School.
We launched this architect-led Design Symposium process to engage the community in envisioning what a new, state-of-the-art school should look like, what it should include and how it should function. We want to create a modern, innovative campus that will take us into the future as we continue to grow as educators, as learners and as a community. Whether you are a parent, a school or district level employee, a community member or a student, we hope you become a part of this process and participate in the conversations.
On behalf of the Colton Joint Unified School District administration and Board of Education, we look forward with excitement to working together to create a safe and welcoming educational environment.
Walter Zimmerman Design Symposium
As the District continues to explore the rebuilding of Zimmerman Elementary School, the district’s Architects will be leading a community input process called a Design Symposium. The symposium process is a public process and it is created to provide transparency and inclusion for the Bloomington community in the planning of the new campus. The Symposium will be conducted over four evening sessions, with each evening providing a different way of thinking about the future of the new school. The first three sessions will be in person and will provide an opportunity for the Bloomington community to provide input prior to the start of design. The last evening will be an online presentation that provides a chance for the Bloomington Community to evaluate concepts resulting from the prior process and provide further input in the schematic design.
Evening 1: Planning and Goals - April 13th, 2023, 5:30pm
Evening 2: Facts and Needs - April 18th, 2023, 5:30pm
Evening 3: Concepts & Solutions - April 24th, 2023, 5:30pm
Evening 4: Schematic Design - May 8th, 2023, 5:30pm
